Converting cost of gasoline from liters to
gallons.
Gasoline is sold
in Thailand by the liter and the prices posted
are in how many baht per liter. It sometimes is
difficult for those who use gallons to determine
how much they are paying to use their vehicles.
You can use the formulas below to help get a
clearer idea of what you are paying while
thinking in gallons and your home currency.
For British Gallons
(Baht per liter * 4.54)/exchange
rate
For US Gallons
(Baht per liter * 3.785)/exchange
rate
Example: say gasoline
is 26.5 baht per liter and the exchange rate for
dollars is 34.5 and for the pound is 64.98.
Gasoline will cost
you:
British: (26.5 * 3.546)/64.98 =
£1.45 per British gallon
US: (26.5 * 3.785)/34.5 = $2.90
per US gallon
Miles Per Gallon
Many who keep to a
tight budget (and are a bit anal) often like to
keep track of how far their vehicle can go on a
certain amount of gasoline. You can use the
formula below if you still can’t think in liters
and kilos.
(kilometers traveled / 1.6) /
(liters used /3.785)
or 4.54 for British gallons.
Example: You traveled
250 kilometers using 20 liters
(250/1.6) / (20 /
3.785) = 29.57 miles per gallon
